About the Author

I’ve always wanted to write one of those ‘About the Author’ pages for books.

And while I should probably clarify that I’ve really only wanted to write it for one of my books, I still find them fascinating. But being as I’m not a published author, and probably won’t be for quite a while, this blog will have to suffice as my work, and WordPress, my publishing house.

What I love about those author pages is seeing how it all fits together. Everything they consider significant enough to put on the back of their own book has also helped shape that book, because it shapes the author as both a creator and a human being. Have I been crafted in such a way? To a certain extent. But I think the same factors that have kept me from coming up with a novel have also left me an as-yet-unfinished person. I don’t have the grand accomplishments, the entrancing sojourns in foreign countries, the passionate romances, or the exceptional qualifications of those who have already sent their souls off to millions by way of Borders or Barnes & Noble.

That being said, I have time. I am a sophomore at the University of California, Berkeley, with a double major in Rhetoric and Political Science (at least as of this week). While I can tell you that I may want to go to law school, and may want to pursue some mystery dream job analyzing the interaction between politics and the media, I can’t honestly tell you what I’m doing next semester. Or next week. I love music–from Bach (Johann Sebastian, not one of his 18 billion children) to Andrew Bird to Dave Brubeck. I’m a singer who has relatively equal footing in both jazz and classical realms, and waits anxiously for my song-writing ability to suddenly shoot into existence. I love writing, and have dabbled in many forms, including poetry, endless essays and articles, and even screenwriting (to which I don’t ever plan to return). I also adore European history, especially England in the 16th and 17th centuries. I love everything English, and would like nothing more than to own a microscopic London flat with a coffee shop around the corner. I absolutely despise flying, spiders, smoking, and mayonnaise.

I didn’t know that you didn’t like mayo, but for some reason it didn’t strike me as odd- it seemed like a perfectly fit substance for you to despise, for some reason.

    I’m sorry for being random.

  2. Lol, that is really random but that’s okay. 🙂

You know what’s weird? No one has looked at this since I started the blog…and then two people comment in one day. I think that means I should actually start posting things.
